- International Day Against Fascism and Antisemitism
Joint campaign of anti-fascist, anti-racist,
human rights, Roma and Jewish organisations both inside and outside
the UNITED network. On 9 November 1938, the "Kristallnacht"
pogrom took place. This partly state-organised pogrom against
German Jews symbolises the beginning of the Holocaust. The commemoration
has taken on a new meaning as we remember not only the victims
from 1938, but also campaign against the rise of neo-nazism and
racism in Europe today, and show support for the recent victims
of racist and fascist attacks. Fascism killed millions of people:
Jews, Roma and Sinti, gays, anti-fascists and people with disabilities.
These groups are still being excluded from our societies. They
are being discriminated every day. Everyone has a role to play
and a contribution to make in the struggle against intolerance,
according to their own skills and ambitions.

21 March was declared International Day for the Elimination
of Racial Discrimination by the General Assembly of the United
Nations as a reaction to the murder of 70 peaceful demonstrators
in Sharpeville, South Africa in 1960. This year once again hundreds
of activities will take place all around Europe, organised by
a wide variety of organisations. Activities range from demonstration
and debates to film festivals and from special TV programs to
cleaning the walls of racist slogans.

History is an underlying cause for conflicts and intolerance.
Most of Europe's current conflicts are deeply rooted in society
and its history since centuries (for example in Cyprus, Northern
Ireland, Basque Country). History interpretations are often used
to "legitimate" opinions, prejudice and to justify
discrimination.
During the training course methodological approaches to history
as an issue of non-formal, anti-discrimination oriented, youth
education projects will be deepened.
Multipliers will be challenged during interactive sessions, case
studies and simulations and will get practical support in designing
future youth projects...
