Internship opportunity in Budapest Secretariat

The UNITED Secretariat is happy to offer limited internship positions in its Budapest office on an ongoing basis.

Graphic Design Intern

UNITED for Intercultural Action is the European network against nationalism, racism, fascism and in support of migrants, refugees and minorities. Together with over 560 supporter organisations all around Europe, ranging from local grassroots associations to national and international NGOs, UNITED coordinates campaigns, organises conferences, takes part in projects, produces publications and undertakes advocacy work to protest against discrimination and promote our shared vision for a diverse and inclusive society.

UNITED has a strong online presence through its website, online campaigns, and various social media channels. Since we interact with a diverse audience, we emphasize needing well-designed visual communication material for our promotional materials and overall online presence.

Are you an aspiring graphic designer, passionate about the cause of anti-racism, and looking to contribute your skills to the cause? Apply to be our intern!

As the media and graphic design intern, your activities will include:

  • Graphic Design – Creating of content for social media, web and print.
  • Support with designs needed for publications such as toolkits or annual reports
  • Photography – (pending on the COVID-19 situation) taking eye-catching pictures of our conferences, participants, and activities
  • Videography and editing (if applicable) – creating videos for workshops, programs, events and other activities
Requirements
  • Experience and education in graphic design, photography and/or videography
  • Adobe Illustrator, Indesign skills (or other relevent other design programs)
  • Branding and creative strategy skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • A strong interest in issues of anti-racism

The primary areas of involvement will be with Communications and Campaigns, with ad hoc support provided for other areas of UNITED.

Unfortunately, we cannot provide any remuneration for this internship. However, should you require it, we can provide support for course credit.

The location will be remote. The duration is minimum 3 months, around 5-10 hours a week or as needed. The timings may vary according to upcoming events.

Fundraising Assistant Intern

The Budapest Secretariat is offering a Fundraising Assistant internship opportunity for the period of January – June 2021.

This internship can be done entirely remotely, but if in-person travel is required (and possible), it will  be to the office based in Budapest, Hungary.

Your challenge will be:

  • Researching and sourcing suitable funding opportunities/grants with details on requirements and restrictions, target groups and areas of interest
  • Creating a database of potential donors with details on types of projects, communications/marketing strategy, and sponsor opportunities
  • Supporting the building of relationships with potential donors,
  • Collaborate on social media, publicity, marketing and communication efforts where needed.
  • Assist with writing grant applications
  • Support the fundraising unit in planning and coordinating events.
  • Any other relevant duties.

You are best if:

  • You are enrolled in a Bachelor or Master with a focus on Communication or Marketing or finished it already (desired, but not mandatory)
  • You are fluent in English
  • You are familiar with Microsoft Excel
  • You have some HTML/Wordpress skills
  • You have strong affinity with campaigns and a genuine interest in fundraising
  • You are able to deliver quality work within tight deadlines with minimal supervision

Conditions:

The internship is an unpaid position, however, there is a possibility to request contribution to food and local transport.

This internship can be done entirely remotely, but if in-person travel is required (and possible), it will  be to the office based in Budapest, Hungary.

The minimum duration is 6 months, around 10 hours week or as needed.

Campaign and Social Media Assistant 

The Budapest Secretariat is offering a Campaign and Social Media Assistant internship opportunity for the period of January – June 2021.

Your challenge will be:

  • Assist in our campaign development process to design, implement, and assist UNITED campaigns on diversity, migration policies and European Parliamentary Elections

  • Assist in content development, assist in our press and social media objectives,  e-mail campaigns, providing our supporters and partners with the most recent updates and campaign information,

  • Stimulate activities and communication with the network and our partners,

  • Assist in creation of visual content and delivery,

  • Test campaigns and ensure emails are consistent and correct,

  • Assist with reporting and results analysis,

  • Assist in optimization of our templates.

You are best if:

  • You are enrolled in a Bachelor or Master with a focus on Communication or Marketing or finished it already (desired, but not mandatory)

  • You are fluent in English

  • You are familiar with Office and some graphic design program of your choice

  • You have some HTML/Wordpress skills

  • You have strong affinity with campaigns and a genuine interest in digital marketing

Conditions:

The internship is an unpaid position, however, there is a possibility to request contribution to food and local transport.

Part-time and full-time applications will be both considered.

Ongoing internship opportunity

It is also possible to apply for a generic internship on an ongoing basis, the main focus of which can be specified during the selection process.

Main responsibilities:

–   Keeping contact with the network of more than 500 organisations

–   Contributing to the design and implementation of campaigns

–   Creating visuals for campaigns

–   Co-organizing the annual conferences

–   Carrying out research in other ongoing projects

–   Communication and social media management tasks

 Duration: minimum 3 months, preferably 6-12 months.

Financial conditions: the internship is an unpaid position, however, there is a possibility to request contribution to food and local transport.
